Neutering

Dogs

We recommend male dogs are castrated from 6 months of age.

Bitches are spayed before their first season (from 5 months) unless of a specific breed (eg Old English Sheepdogs, Dobermans, Red Setters). We offer laparoscopic spays as well as the traditional method. Laparoscopic spays (keyhole surgery) offer the benefit of a less invasive procedure, shorter procedure time, quicker recovery, less scarring and less pain for the bitch.

Every animal is an individual and at times a vet may recommend a different time frame for your pet.

Cats

We recommend male cats are castrated and females spayed from 5 months.

Rabbits

We recommend that both does and bucks are neutered at 4-6 months.
