Ophthalmology

One of our directors, Emma Newton has been concentrating on conditions affecting the eye since passing rigorous examinations in 2006. She sees first opinion cases at Priory Veterinary Group but also takes referrals from nearby veterinary surgeries.

Emma holds a Certificate in Veterinary Ophthalmology and is an RCVS Advanced Practitioner.

If you are concerned about your animals eyes and would like Emma to examine them please contact reception if you are registered at Priory. If you are registered elsewhere please ask your vet to refer you. Emma may be contacted at emmanewton@prioryvetgroup.com or at Christchurch 01202 484466.

We routinely allow 30 minutes for ocular examinations. They include assessment of vision, thorough magnified inspection of the eye, taking intraocular pressures, measuring tear production and a retinal examination. When surgery is indicated, our dedicated theatre is fully equipped and Emma has an special operating microscope to perform eyelid and corneal surgery.

Vets may refer a client using the form below or alternatively please ring the surgery. In case of an ocular emergency please call 01202 484466.
